For over 20 years, Alfapass has been the pioneer in secure identification and authentication, with products such as the Alfapass Smartcard and MyAlfapass app. With the Alfapass Lite app, we are extending our offering with a fast, user-friendly digital solution for identification and authentication providing a high level of security (LoA2).
Alfapass Lite is a flexible and secure alternative when an Alfapass Smartcard is not required or practical. Visitors identify and authenticate themselves entirely via the Alfapass Lite app: they scan a valid identity document or passport, take a selfie and, once their identity has been confirmed, can authenticate securely, including via a QR code at the terminal.
How does Alfapass Lite work?
With Alfapass Lite, we bring our trusted approach to a secure, reliable and personal digital solution. Using the app:
- Step 1 Send your contact person an invitation to activate Alfapass Lite.
- Step 2 The contact person downloads the app and opens it on their smartphone.
- Step 3 The contact person completes the identity check by scanning the front and back of a valid identity document or passport and taking a selfie.
- Step 4 They set a personal PIN.
- Step 5 Once their identity has been confirmed, the contact person can authenticate securely, including via a QR code at the terminal.

The Alfapass Smartcard
Where critical infrastructures require the highest level of security (LoA3), the physical Alfapass Smartcard remains the standard.
At Alfapass, security starts with a physically verified identity. Every smartcard is issued only after a rigorous identity verification process, including:
- secure capture of biometric characteristics, currently a fingerprint Alfapass continues to closely follow developments in biometrics to support future applications.
- verification of the applicant’s official identity document for authenticity and validity, performed both digitally and manually by trained personnel
- visual confirmation that the applicant matches the photograph on the presented identity document, again carried out both digitally and manually
The app or the smartcard?
The appropriate solution depends on the situation and the level of security required.
For maximum assurance of the identity of employees and visitors, the Alfapass Smartcard remains the standard, offering the highest level of security (LoA3).
For a fast, user-friendly and fully digital approach to identification and authentication, the Alfapass Lite app provides an efficient alternative (LoA2).
